lets take a minute to review the mythbusters past. rocket cars, water jets, viral videos, the moon, super heroes, explosions. their experiments range from educational to humorous. now they have done it.. not only a duct tape boat, but a working duct tape canon!

That’s true, but the way they made it the inside isn’t sticky.

There’s something inherently hilarious, almost Monty Python-esque about two grown men in bright orange life vests paddling off in a sinking boat.

@ehcmier : I agree with what you are saying but they’re only liable if someone goes after them. What I am saying is they made a mistake and it should be noted as sooner or later someone will try this. In other videos of them using cannons they used a correct ramrod in this they ran into the unexpected and errored. There is a reason ramrods are made as they are and if you’ve ever worked with or researched blackpowder guns/cannons as well as accidents related to their use you’d understand.

The guys responsible for everyone’s safety, including the pyrotechnicians and safety experts and lawyers, are all liable if something’s not done with everyone’s health and safety in mind.

I thought these guys were supose to be smart & safe. 8:40 on they not only use a steel bar to tap the cannon ball, but they also have a guy standing in front. Thats not gun powder it’s black powder which is far more dangerous, if any had of stuck to the sticky duck tape and they made a spark..ouch..especially with the air space between the ball and the powder.

Well since the cannon is pretty simple to make and it doesn’t need a built in structure.
The boat would collapse since the tape isn’t that strong and its way bigger than the cannon .

If they were ok with using steel to give structure to their duct tape boat, why not use steel or something similar to provide some builtin structure for the duct tape cannon?
